Meet the All-Electric 2024 VW ID.7 EV in Silver Spring, MD

DesignAll-Electric VW ID.7 Coming Soon | Silver Spring, MD

The ID.7 is a midsize sedan designed for families, with a liftback silhouette that provides generous cargo space. It has spacious, comfortable seating for up to five people thanks to an extended wheelbase that expands the rear-seat legroom. In fact, three adults can fit comfortably in the back of this sedan. The ID.7 shares a platform with two other electric vehicles, the ID.4 SUV and the soon-to-be-released ID. Buzz microbus.

The exterior of the ID.7 showcases flowing aerodynamic lines and a tapered rear bumper. The closed-off underbody helps the powertrain preserve energy. The car has LED Matrix headlights and LED running lights. VW has added a smart climate control system, ambient lighting, and climate-controlled seats inside the vehicle. Active suspension damping helps to give you a smooth ride.

Infotainment Tech

Standard tech will include a 15-inch infotainment screen paired with an augmented reality driver information and navigation display. The ID.7 also has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay across the lineup. You’ll also find USB-C charging ports in the vehicle’s front and rear.

A new voice control system lets you control volume, climate control, navigation, drive mode, and other key settings. You can upgrade the new EV with a 700-watt, 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system.

Driver Assistance

The ID.7 has a generous array of VW driver assistance features. Although the brand hasn’t announced the final package, the car will likely include standard adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. Available options include an advanced driver assistance system that automatically changes lanes.

Performance

The ID.7 will have an expected drive range of about 300 miles. The new EV has a rear-wheel drive 282-horsepower electric motor that delivers a reported zero-to-60 time of just 5 seconds. It will support rapid battery charging, potentially reaching up to 80% power in 30 minutes, depending on the conditions.

You can expect an all-wheel drive variant of this vehicle down the line, along with other available powertrain upgrades like a larger battery or additional motor. Volkswagen hasn’t reported the fuel economy numbers for the ID.7 yet, but it’s expected to outperform the ID.4 rating of 107 city mpg.
