Even though you pride yourself on your careful driving, it’s good to have the reassurance of an extra helping hand behind the wheel. All new Volkswagens now come with various automatic safety features as either standard or available, which means that the latest technology can be used to keep you and your passengers safe. Read on to find out which car safety features you can discuss with your VW dealer.

Ask Your VW Dealer About These 5 Standard Car Safety Features

1.    Intelligent Crash Response System

In the worst-case scenario, you want to know that your car will do its best to protect you. Volkswagen’s intelligent crash response means that the car can detect when a crash has occurred and will deploy seatbelt tensioners and airbags to protect the driver and passengers from the impact. It also unlocks the doors to enable an easier escape from the vehicle and shares the car’s location with first responders.

2.    Pedestrian Monitoring

Volkswagen has developed pedestrian monitoring to protect anyone walking in parking lots or streets near your car. The system uses sensors to monitor pedestrians within a 400-foot or 35-degree radius of the vehicle and alerts you to their presence. If you don’t take appropriate action, the system will activate the brakes to avoid a collision.

3.    Forward Collision Warning

Sensors on your Volkswagen will identify potential crash hazards in front of the vehicle and issue a warning in the form of a dashboard light and audible alert. If you don’t slow down, the autonomous emergency braking feature will apply the brakes to prevent a collision.

4.    Blind Spot Monitor

Most of us know the jolt we get when a car appears as if from nowhere in the lane we were about to merge into. That’s why Volkswagen has fitted blind spot monitoring systems, with sensors in the rear bumper that identify and monitor cars approaching from behind in an adjacent lane. If you indicate to merge into an occupied lane, a warning light on the wing mirror will appear.

5.    Rear Traffic Alert

This system will help identify vehicles behind the car or approaching the vehicle’s rear from the side at a radius of 65 to 80 feet. It alerts the driver with a visual and auditory warning and will apply the brakes if a collision seems imminent.

As much as you enjoy your Volkswagen car’s quality, comfort, and reliability, your drive will be even better for knowing that the state-of-the-art technology and engineering expertise are also maximizing your safety. Visit us at DARCARS Volkswagen to discuss these and other great features of our vehicles with our knowledgeable sales team.
