Volkswagen Maintenance Tips

Taking Great Care of Volkswagen Vehicles in the Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville, College Park and Gaithersburg Areas

Have you ever spent a significant amount on a large purchase, only to have it fall apart, break down or give out after you'd had it only a short time? When you make an investment in something, you want it to last. Take your house or apartment for example: when you're forking out money every month on that payment, you are motivated to take good care of it. You keep the bathroom clean, wash the dishes, mow the grass and touch up paint when needed, right?

So why would you treat your vehicle any differently? Whether you have a Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Tiguan, or any other popular model, keeping it in great condition is important. All it takes is a little planning ahead and a bit of prevention. You've heard that adage, "prevention is the best medicine?" This couldn't be truer with your car or SUV, too. Taking care of them means that they will last longer and run better.

So, what do we recommend here at DARCARS Volkswagen for maintenance of your vehicle? Here are a few tips:

Maintenance Tips for Your Volkswagen

  • Regular tune ups. Tune ups are important because they keep everything working smoothly. This can help prevent expensive problems down the road and it also means that your car or SUV will run better all the time.
  • Brake repair. Have you ever slammed on the brakes only to feel a squish under your foot? Prevent brake problems before they start. Have regular brake inspections and any necessary repairs when recommended by your automotive technician. A brake pad replacement costs a lot less than getting into an accident and totaling your vehicle.
  • Get oil changes. Don't schedule an oil change, "whenever." Most garages recommend going three months, or 3,000 miles between oil changes. You can check your Volkswagen's manual for specific recommendations.
  • Use good tires. Tires can be damaged by too much or too little pressure, sharp objects on the roadway and more. Tires require inspection and care to keep them in great working order.
